Abstract

In the digital age, algorithms play a pivotal role in shaping language usage across various platforms, from search engines to social media. This study explores the influence of algorithmic processes on language choices, linguistic diversity, and creativity. Through qualitative content analysis, search query analysis, and user surveys, the research examines how algorithms promote certain language patterns while potentially suppressing others. The findings reveal that algorithms contribute to the homogenization of language by favoring trendy, simplified expressions, which may limit linguistic diversity and innovation. Additionally, the study highlights the regional variations in algorithmic influence, underscoring the dual role of algorithms in reinforcing both global and localized linguistic norms. The paper discusses the societal and cultural implications of these trends, particularly the risks to cultural diversity and the richness of public discourse. The study concludes with a call for further research into the long-term effects of algorithm-driven language use and the ethical considerations necessary for fostering a more inclusive digital environment.
